[Makerspace] Monthly meeting for May / June

My agree 100% Felix – sounds too much like too much like someone out to get our (or anyone’s) money – which may be OK in commerce, but has absolutely nothing in common with a Makerspace.

I put all my designs up for free on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/geoff_cohen/designs ) and use open source software, like Marlin, whenever possible.

Hi Harry,

Well I can't speak for everybody, but we already have a makerspace and I don't think we have a lot of interest in your businessy stuff. I'm definitely on the community / open source side of things.

A makerspace focused on commercial development is not a makerspace, it's a startup incubator right?

Hi Felix,

My name is Harry and I work for The Lake Macquarie Economic Development Company. I've been on the mailing list for a little while now and if you're happy for me to attend the next meeting, I'd love to share with you guys a project we're working on in Warners Bay?

Basic outline of the project:

*	Makerspace focused on accelerating the commercialisation of product-based businesses (i.e. not focused on making things for interest or leisure)
*	Strong R&D theme (anchor tenants of the space are an electrical engineering company's R&D arm and a startup accelerator)
*	Membership-based business model + programs for ambitious maker/founders.

What do you reckon?

Hi all,

I reckon I will post a Meetup event for maybe the 30th May and 27th June.

Would anyone like to do anything, demo something, talk about a project or anything else?

The space is nicely cleaned up and there's more room to actually do stuff!
